Even distribution, before the tamp.
A WDT tool breaks up clumped grounds and evens the bed in the basket, so the puck starts level instead of lumpy.
Consistent pressure, every pull.
The calibrated tamper is built to a fixed compression point, so you tamp with the same force every time instead of guessing.
Two tools, one habit.
Distribute, then tamp — the whole pre-shot ritual in under a minute, using tools sized for a home counter, not a café line.
1. Dose
Dose your ground coffee into the portafilter basket as usual.
2. Distribute
Stir with the WDT tool in a light circular motion to break up clumps and level the bed.
3. Tamp
Tamp with even, level pressure and pull your shot.
Steel, wood, and a fixed compression point
The WDT tool's needles are stainless steel — fine enough to break up clumps without tearing the bed apart, stiff enough to hold their shape stir after stir.
Its handle is turned wood, sized to sit in a closed fist. The tamper's base is calibrated to a single, repeatable compression point, so the tool enforces the consistency a hand alone can't.
The Set
Both tools, one order
The WDT tool and the calibrated tamper, together — the whole pre-shot ritual in one box. $42.99, versus $46.98 buying each separately — shown as plain arithmetic, not a manufactured discount.
A small, honest brand
Even Extract is a small, independent brand launched in 2026 by a one-person team. We're not a heritage roastery — we're new, and we'd rather say that plainly than invent a backstory.
Home espresso setups have gotten good enough that the machine usually isn't the weak link — the pre-shot routine is. Distribution and tamp pressure are the two easiest things to get inconsistent, and the two cheapest to fix.
Questions, answered honestly
WDT stands for Weiss Distribution Technique. It's a tool with fine needles you stir through your dose of ground coffee to break up clumps and level the bed before tamping.
Our current Calibrated Tamper is 51mm only. The WDT Tool is not size-specific in the same way; its needles work across 51/53/58mm baskets — confirm basket depth clearance before first use.
Our supplier's realistic transit time is roughly 10–20 business days. We do not currently offer faster domestic fulfillment.
30-day returns on unused, unopened items; the buyer covers return shipping unless the item arrived defective.
See the Specifications table on each product page. Where we don't yet have a confirmed spec from a physical sample, it's marked TBC from sample rather than guessed.
Not yet — we're a new, small brand and launched without any. We'd rather tell you that than fake one.
