How the ritual works
1. Dose
Dose your ground coffee into the portafilter basket as usual.
2. Distribute
Stir with the WDT tool in a light circular motion to break up clumps and level the bed.
3. Tamp
Tamp with even, level pressure and pull your shot.
Why distribution matters
Coffee clumps as it leaves the grinder. Water takes the path of least resistance, racing through the loose spots and crawling through the dense ones — so the same dose and grind can pull fast and sour one morning, slow and bitter the next.
Breaking the clumps up before you tamp removes that variable. It takes about ten seconds, and it's the step most home setups skip.

What is a WDT tool, and do I need one?
WDT stands for Weiss Distribution Technique. It's a tool with fine needles you stir through your dose of ground coffee to break up clumps and level the bed before tamping.
What size do I need — 51mm, 53mm, or 58mm?
Our current Calibrated Tamper is 51mm only. The WDT Tool is not size-specific in the same way; its needles work across 51/53/58mm baskets — confirm basket depth clearance before first use.
How long does shipping take?
Our supplier's realistic transit time is roughly 10–20 business days. We do not currently offer faster domestic fulfillment.
